About Joyce Jomon George

Joyce Jomon George is a poet by passion. Poetry is her way of expression and communication, especially when words woven in rhythmic ribbons of emotions seem easier than speaking out loud.

LiFT: Tell us about the theme of the anthology and how did you get to know about it?

Joyce Jomon George: This book includes poems and stories that narrate and convey those emotions that often remain hidden within ourselves- sometimes forced, sometimes conveniently hidden and sometimes not expressed because it is comfortable when not revealed or expressed. I came to know about this anthology through the publisher’s Instagram update!

LiFT: What inspired you to write for this particular anthology?

Joyce Jomon George: I thought it was an opportunity to say something I deeply felt recently.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Joyce Jomon George: I see myself as a poet with few anthologies of my own and to be recognised for my poems.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Joyce Jomon George: I am a teacher and I love teaching. I also enjoy encouraging my students to write poems and I’m proud of some of them who have already published their poems in various anthologies. I also enjoy reading.

LiFT: Are you working on your own book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Joyce Jomon George: Yes, I am working on my third anthology. It is going to be a collection of poems that narrate my experiences and emotions that I would like to convey through my poems.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Joyce Jomon George: I always tell my students or any one who wish to write poems to write honestly. Write about anything you wish to. Do not worry about others’ opinions about your writing but always accept a good feedback and keep trying to improve yourself with each poem you write.
