About Vibhor Bijoy
Vibhor Bijoy is an Indian writer and a software engineer who has written in many anthologies and seven solo books. Vibhor wrote a lot during his school and college days, but he rediscovered writing in 2020 when the Corona Pandemic started. Initially, he wrote for anthologies like Tintinabulations, Voice of the Heart, Safina, Shahdat, etc. By 2022, he was a co-author in 200 anthologies and was awarded the “Most Consistent Co-Author of 2021” by Opus Collesium.
In January 2023, he released his first solo poetry book collection, Bhav Vibhor, which contained romantic poems. His second solo poetry book, titled Aaina, addressed the dark truths of society and was highly appreciated by readers. His novels Kanpur Ki Kulfi and Mission Rahat, published in 2023, were also well-received.
In 2024, he wrote his third poetry book, Adhura Lafz, which explores incomplete love inspired by various movies, memories of a person in the rain, and college days. His second release in 2024, Cricket Post Covid, discusses the transition and journey of cricket teams post-pandemic and the challenges they faced up to the 2024 T20 World Cup. His third release of 2024, Scaling the Wall, is a historical fiction sports drama. These three books have received high praise from readers.
LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?
Vibhor Bijoy: For Scaling the Wall, I read some blogs written by people whose families lived in pre-independence India, their life then, and their love for hockey, which is India’s national sport. I also went through the Indian hockey team’s journey in the 1956 Olympics, 1960 Olympics, and 1964 Olympics. Additionally, I gave tribute to iconic Hindi movies like Duplicate, Beta, Veer Zara, and Amar Akbar Anthony while writing Scaling the Wall.
LiFT: Why you chose this title?
Vibhor Bijoy: In life, one has to overcome the power of evil forces. One has to break the walls of injustice and greed to achieve peace and justice through kindness and love. That’s why I chose Scaling the Wall as the title.
LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?
Vibhor Bijoy: I used to write in college and school, and my teachers often said that I had a flair for writing. Then Covid struck in 2020, and I was scared that I could lose my job, but fortunately, that did not happen. After some months of lockdown, I started posting poetry on my Facebook and Instagram pages. A few days later, I began receiving messages from publishing houses inviting me to write for their anthologies.
From there, I realized that I could be a good writer and poet. When my first solo book, Bhav Vibhor, was published, it was liked by my friends and family. That was when I truly realized that I was destined to write books. My family and my friends—Abhinav, Swapnil, Saurav, Aastha, and Shalvi—have inspired me a lot in my writing journey.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Vibhor Bijoy: To write 100 solo books and bring at least 20 of those to the screen in the next 10 years. Secondly, I would love to promote young authors and help them write good content because, as a writer and a reader, I believe we are lacking good content. These are my targets for the next 10 years.
LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?
Vibhor Bijoy: It’s very important in today’s time as readers would never know new/raw authors who have talent to write masterpieces if an author does not market his/her book. In today’s world, an author’s journey begins when his/her book is out in the market because readers will only connect if you display your content with conviction and today’s main challenge for a new author is to make an impression in a reader’s mind is to give the same respect to his book that the reader gives to a Chetan Bhagat or a Durjoy Dutta or a Sudha Murthy and hopefully this year the new authors in the market will be able to do that.
LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?
Vibhor Bijoy: Just break the barrier of perfect writing. One must not be scared of failure or mistakes and it’s not possible to please everyone every time.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Vibhor Bijoy: Boxing, cycling, weight training, cooking and travelling.
LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?
Vibhor Bijoy: I try to research more on my topics when I face writer’s block and try to take my writing one notch up from my previous works/performances.
LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?
Vibhor Bijoy: I would like to work with Nikhil Advani as a director because I love his work, be it Rocket Boys, Freedom at Midnight, Veda, or Kal Ho Na Ho.
In actors, I would love to work with John Abraham, Laksh Lalwani, and Diljit Dosanjh because their acting is natural.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.
Vibhor Bijoy: Yes I am working on my next book Kabir Meets Kabir which is a romantic comedy with a social message.
LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?
Vibhor Bijoy: Firstly, do proper research on the subject on what one wants to write. Secondly one needs to drive away the fear of the audience how would they judge, one has to be just honest with their content and thirdly one should approach a good editor while editing their manuscript, as editing of a book leaves a long lasting impression on the readers.
