LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.

Kumar Abhishek: The book THE WAY TO ZEN contains poems and poetries about life and how one can go about life itself and simple living.

The book started with a page on Instagram (dr.ofletters) where I have stored some awesome poetries.

Many of them have been written while I was practicing in PATNA HIGH COURT. One poem came, then another, then another.

I’ve written on various topics, titles, and quotes. Many of them are related to life and simple living.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Kumar Abhishek: THE WAY TO ZEN is a philosophical-poetry book with some love poems.

The thinking behind this is that how one can achieve Zen mode in this fast-pacing modern world, environment, and changing societies.

In order to achieve such simple style, one has to look and let self-absorb the negativities, and channelise them.

These the reasons, hence the title.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a poet and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Kumar Abhishek: The journey began since 2012 when I used to scribble down some words, poems, and quotes and I used to listen to a lot of raps as well.

I started as writing prose-poems while I was in law school.

Then the thought sparked that the collection could be infused to a book.

Hence, the books DARK THOUGHTS OF NOCTURNAL DAYS and THE WAY TO ZEN in 2019 and 2024 respectively.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Kumar Abhishek: I see myself as getting the Nobel Price in Literature.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Kumar Abhishek: Not much when you have a big name.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Kumar Abhishek: That there is love around the corner whenever someone wants to visit. That there should be generational upliftment of an era, some sort of revolution if I may.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Kumar Abhishek: I am a full-time lawyer. Ha!

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Kumar Abhishek: Travelling, watching sports commentaries, especially football. Reading is a must.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Kumar Abhishek: OUT OF THE BOX would have been my second book as the book is a collection of poems of five years down the line (2015-2021). I have resorted and had conversations to several publishers in UK and the result looks promising. All-in-all the book is to be published soon.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Kumar Abhishek: Read a lot. You are welcome.
