LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Wired for Affection: Hearts in the Digital Age is a poetry anthology that explores the complexities of love in our tech-driven world. It delves into the highs and lows of modern relationships, from the excitement of virtual connections to the challenges of distance, misunderstandings, and rediscovery.

The journey of writing this book was deeply personal and reflective. I wanted to capture the evolving dynamics of affection in an era where emotions are expressed through texts, video calls, and social media. Each poem tells a story—sometimes joyous, sometimes heart-wrenching—but always relatable.

This book is more than just poetry; it’s a mirror to our experiences, offering a fresh perspective on how love survives, thrives, or falters in the digital age. Writing it allowed me to weave my observations, emotions, and insights into something that I hope resonates deeply with readers.’

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: The title Wired for Affection: Hearts in the Digital Age was chosen to reflect the central theme of the anthology—how love and relationships are shaped by the digital world we live in today. The word “Wired” signifies both the technological aspect of modern communication and the emotional wiring of our hearts that constantly seek connection and affection.

I wanted a title that captures the duality of our times: the convenience and beauty of forming connections online, alongside the challenges and complexities it brings. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of the book, where love is explored through the lens of technology, yet remains timeless and deeply human.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: I realized I wanted to be a writer and poet during my teenage years when I found myself drawn to the power of words and their ability to convey emotions that are often hard to express otherwise. Writing became my safe space—a way to pour my thoughts and experiences into something meaningful and impactful.

My biggest inspiration has always been the world around me—people, relationships, nature, and even fleeting moments of joy and despair. Over time, I realized that through my words, I could connect with others, make them feel seen, and offer them a sense of hope. That ability to touch hearts and create lasting impressions is what continues to inspire me as a writer and poet.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Ten years from now, I envision myself as an established voice in the world of literature, inspiring readers globally with my words. I hope to have authored several impactful books across genres—poetry, fiction, and maybe even non-fiction—that resonate deeply with people from all walks of life.

My goal is to create stories and verses that leave a lasting impression, sparking conversations about emotions, relationships, mental health, and the human experience. I also aspire to mentor aspiring writers, helping them discover their own unique voices. Ultimately, I want to be known not just as a writer, but as someone who touched hearts, influenced perspectives, and made a meaningful difference through the power of words.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Both marketing and the quality of a book are crucial in their own ways to ensure a book reaches a wider audience and leaves a lasting impact. Quality is the foundation—without compelling content, relatable themes, and engaging storytelling, no amount of marketing can sustain a book’s success. Readers connect with authenticity, and a well-crafted book is what earns their loyalty and recommendations.

However, in today’s fast-paced, content-rich world, marketing plays an equally vital role. A great book needs visibility, and strategic promotion helps it stand out in a crowded marketplace. Whether it’s through social media campaigns, engaging with readers directly, or collaborating with influencers, marketing bridges the gap between the author and potential readers.

The balance lies in creating a book that’s both meaningful and relatable, while leveraging smart marketing strategies to amplify its reach. In my view, quality wins hearts, but marketing gets those hearts to notice you first.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Through my writings, I aim to spread a message of hope, resilience, and the beauty of human connections. Whether it’s poetry, fiction, or lyrics, I strive to remind people that they are not alone in their struggles, emotions, or experiences.

I want to encourage readers to embrace vulnerability, celebrate love in all its forms, and find strength even in the darkest moments. My goal is to inspire introspection and self-discovery, helping people navigate the complexities of life with compassion—for themselves and others. Ultimately, I want my words to touch hearts, spark conversations, and leave readers feeling a little more seen, understood, and hopeful.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Apart from writing, I’m a qualified dentist and a certified digital marketer, which has helped me refine my skills in communication and branding. I’ve recently ventured into screenwriting, exploring new creative avenues and storytelling formats.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I have a deep passion for numismatics and philately, with a collection that spans over 100 countries. I also prioritize fitness and wellness, integrating strength training, yoga, calisthenics, and meditation into my daily routine. Traveling and observing the world around me is another passion that influences much of my work. Whether I’m sketching, making music, or connecting with people online, I’m always looking for ways to inspire and expand my creativity.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: When I face a writer’s block, I turn to activities that help me reconnect with my creativity and clear my mind. One of my go-to activities is sketching, as it allows me to express emotions visually, which often sparks new ideas for my writing. I also find solace in fitness routines like yoga and calisthenics, as they help me relax and reset mentally.

Another activity I enjoy is reading, whether it’s books, poems, or lyrics from different genres, which often inspires new perspectives. Traveling, observing human interactions, and immersing myself in nature also help reignite my creative flow. Finally, when I feel stuck, I take breaks and let my thoughts wander—sometimes, stepping away from writing for a bit can lead to the most unexpected breakthroughs.

LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: If my story were to be adopted as a movie, I’d love to collaborate with a director who can capture the emotional depth and nuances of the characters and their journeys. Someone like Zoya Akhtar would be an ideal choice, given her ability to blend human emotions with compelling storytelling, especially in the realms of relationships and self-discovery.

As for the actors, I’d love to see someone like Hrithik Roshan bring complexity and vulnerability to a leading role, and for the female protagonist, someone like Deepika Padukone, who effortlessly balances strength and emotion in her performances. Both have the ability to evoke deep emotions, which is key to bringing the essence of my story to life. I’d also be thrilled to see fresh faces who bring new energy and perspectives to these roles, adding a unique charm to the film.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Dr. Abhinav Majumder: Yes, I’m currently working on my next book, which will be a poetry collection that serves a social cause and spreads awareness. The goal is to address important issues that affect society, such as mental health, inequality, and environmental challenges, through the power of poetry. Each poem will aim to spark conversations, inspire change, and motivate people to take action in their own lives or communities.

I believe poetry has the ability to touch hearts and create awareness in a way that no other medium can. With this book, I want to use my words to make a positive impact, encouraging people to reflect on pressing social issues while also offering hope and solutions. It’s a work I’m deeply passionate about, and I hope it resonates with readers who want to be part of a positive change.
