About Snow

Snow hails from the Indian State of Uttarakhand. She discovered her hobby of writing after meeting a great friend. She is a writer by night and one of the biggest overthinkers. She started her journey with her diary writing Her work has been previously published in Beneath the Stars, Crimson skies anthology by Writer’s Pocket. Apart from writing and poetry, she finds her escape in dance and music, she is a lover of naps and reads novels, manga, and Manhua every time sitting on the couch while watching the rain, The more people know about her the less it seems she is a lover of romantic mystery. She has now published her first book, SAROYANI.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.

Snow: Saroyani has been a deeply personal and transformative journey for me. This collection of poems is a reflection of my own experiences, emotions, and growth. It has allowed me to navigate the intricate landscape of love, self-discovery, and the challenges of adolescence.

The process of writing Saroyani began as a cathartic exploration of my feelings. The poems are not just words on paper; they are fragments of my heart, laid bare for readers to connect with. Each piece is a snapshot of a moment, a feeling, or a realization that shaped my journey.

The themes woven into the fabric of Saroyani span the spectrum of human emotions. From the intoxicating beauty of love, as depicted in ‘Dream Come True’ and ‘We Become Courageous,’ to the poignant pain of farewells in ‘Goodbyes,’ the collection captures the essence of the human experience.

One of the unique aspects of Saroyani is the central narrative that revolves around a significant person in my life, referred to as my ‘male vixen.’
This individual became a source of inspiration.
Help me embrace my true self and find courage in vulnerability.
The poems also delve into the complexities of unexpressed feelings, as seen in ‘I Want,’ where the fear of rejection and the longing for a deeper connection are laid bare.

The use of metaphors and evocative imagery, such as in ‘Snow & Water, Sea & Shore,’ aims to paint a vivid picture in the reader’s mind, immersing them in the emotional tapestry of each verse.
I wanted the words to transcend the page, inviting readers to not only read but to feel the emotions and experiences portrayed.

I mostly write during my free classes in school. My seat was near a window, so I would look outside with my diary and remember him writing these poems.
I am not good at sports, so during that time, I write too.

Throughout the writing process,
I found solace in the act of self-expression.
I hope readers will too, find the resonance in the honesty and vulnerability conveyed in Saroyani.
It’s a wish of mine that this collection serves as a companion for those navigating the tumultuous journey of love, self-discovery, and the inevitable farewells that shape our lives.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Snow: There are several reasons behind the title of my book, but it ultimately boils down to the combination of three things that hold great importance to me. The letter ‘S’ represents snow, while ‘A’ is the initial letter of a person who holds a special place in my life. My pen name is ‘Royani’. When I put them together, I arrived at the name Saroyani.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a poet and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Snow: Writing poems and short stories brings me joy, as does reading manga. My family issues have led me to immerse myself in romantic novels as a distraction. Witnessing the happiness of the characters in the book helps me escape my worries and immerse myself in their world. During those times, I desire to be the person who can assist others in forgetting their problems. I want to support individuals who have the same love for books as I do.

Feeling down, I reflected on the negative aspects of my life after a bad day. In the evening, I composed a sonnet called “HOME” Then, when my companion connected, I appeared before him. The experience was so enjoyable that he recommended becoming a writer. As per his words, I was capable of being anything. Despite my talent, I was never accepted as an artist because no one would support me. But he believed in me and gave me the strength to pursue my dreams. His words to me suggested that my poem “HOME” has the potential to be a hit at any moment and could potentially cause people to lose their minds. I thought he was untruthful, but his words conveyed more depth than just stories after genuinely comprehending his words. I have released one and am currently working on other writing.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Snow: I am a writer and a poet who loves to create imaginative and innovative content with words and knowledge. In the next ten years, I see myself as a part of the world of literature, where I can share my thoughts and feelings with a global audience. I have a passion for fantasy and romance. I want to explore these genres in-depth and create stories. I also want to experiment with different forms and styles of poetry and express myself in various ways. I plan to pursue a master’s degree in creative writing. As well as attend workshops and seminars to improve my skills and learn from other writers and poets. I am also open to new opportunities and challenges that may come my way, such as collaborating with other authors, publishing my works, or participating in literary events and competitions. I am always eager to learn new things and adapt to the changing needs and trends of the literary world. I am committed to literature and its values, such as diversity, creativity, and expression. I want to contribute to the literary community by supporting and promoting other writers and poets. As well as by creating works that can inspire and be inspired by other readers and writers. I am excited to be a part of the world of literature and its future.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Snow: According to me, both marketing and the quality of a book play crucial roles in promoting a book and expanding its readership.
If we talk about
Quality of the Book:
Inherent Appeal: The fundamental factor that determines a book’s success is its quality.
A well-written, engaging, and thought-provoking book naturally attracts readers. Quality content keeps readers hooked and encourages positive word-of-mouth recommendations.

Reader Satisfaction: Readers who enjoy a book are more likely to become loyal fans, recommending the book to others and potentially exploring more works by the same author.

Long-Term Success: While marketing can provide an initial boost, the long-term success of a book often depends on its inherent quality. A high-quality book has the potential for sustained popularity and positive reviews.

While the Marketing:
Visibility: Effective marketing is crucial for making a book visible in a crowded market. It helps potential readers discover the book among the vast array of available options.

Audience Targeting: Marketing allows authors to identify and target specific audiences who are likely to be interested in the book. This targeted approach increases the chances of reaching readers who are more inclined to appreciate the content.

Brand Building: Marketing contributes to the author’s and book’s brand. Consistent and strategic marketing efforts build a brand that readers recognize and trust, making them more likely to explore new releases.

Sales and Distribution: Marketing efforts, especially in terms of distribution channels and promotional activities, can impact sales directly. Well-executed marketing campaigns can lead to increased visibility, resulting in more sales.

The Interplay:
Synergy: The most successful book promotions often involve a synergy between quality content and effective marketing. A well-written book benefits from marketing efforts that highlight its strengths and unique features.

Word of Mouth: Even the most extensive marketing campaign can only go so far if the book doesn’t live up to expectations. Positive word of mouth, often driven by the book’s quality, can be a powerful marketing tool.

In summary, both the quality of the book and effective marketing are essential for a book’s success. Ideally, a well-crafted book should be complemented by a strategic marketing plan to maximize its reach and impact. Successful authors often find a balance between producing high-quality content and investing in smart, targeted marketing efforts to connect with their intended audience.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Snow: I am currently studying.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Snow: I examined them and attempted to get what the creators were trying to say and why they had composed them.
Why do individuals like them and attempt to feel it?

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Snow: Currently, I’m working on a book of poetry. It centres around themes of music, love, betrayal, death, snow, and rain. I’m confident you’ll enjoy it.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Snow: Many people may have different opinions on this matter, but I believe that one should follow their heart, pay attention to small details, observe a lot, read what they enjoy, and write what they truly feel. Some writers may think that they should write in a certain way because it is trendy or popular, but I suggest that you write what comes naturally to you.
