Shipra Sharma hails from the capital city of India, New Delhi. She has completed her bachelor of commerce from Delhi University. She has been deeply fascinated about writing stories since her childhood. Among the plethora of genres, romance novels are always her first pick.
LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?
Shipra Sharma: It took me almost one and half years to finish the first draft of the novel. And more than one year of editing it. After sixth draft I was sure enough to send it to the publisher.
I really enjoyed brewing the characters of this book and I am really happy that you all can finally meet them.
About the book –
Ira, with her warm and open nature, unexpectedly falls for Adhijay, drawn by something she can’t quite understand. At first, she might be frustrated with his aloofness and the walls he’s put up. But as she spends more time with him, she begins to see glimpses of the true Adhijay—someone who is not as unfeeling as he pretends to be. Her affection for him grows as she uncovers the layers he hides behind, realizing that his arrogance is a shield, not a reflection of his true self.
Their relationship becomes a delicate dance between vulnerability and strength, as Ira’s love and understanding slowly break down Adhijay’s defenses. In turn, Adhijay finds himself opening up in ways he never thought possible, revealing the pain and secrets that have kept him distant for so long. Through their connection, Ira discovers the person Adhijay truly is, someone much deeper and more complex than the persona he projects, and Adhijay learns to trust and love in a way he never thought he could.
LiFT: Why you chose this title?
Shipra Sharma: Cords Of Concealed Heart
Adhijay is a character cloaked in arrogance and distance, projecting an image that keeps others at arm’s length. On the surface, he appears cold, indifferent, and perhaps even unapproachable, but this exterior is a carefully crafted facade. Beneath it lies a heart burdened with secrets, fears, and vulnerabilities he has buried deep, believing that showing them would make him weak.
Ira’s affection for him grows as she uncovers the layers he hides behind, realizing that his arrogance is a shield, not a reflection of his true self. Ira’s love and understanding slowly break down Adhijay’s defenses. And finally he revealed his secrets of his concealed heart in front of Ira.
LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?
Shipra Sharma: I was in my ninth standard when I first started writing short stories. It came to me naturally to be a writer. I was very connected to story books since my childhood and one day I started writing my own fiction stories.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Shipra Sharma: I don’t know if I will become a famous writer, that only time can tell. But yes, I am sure I will never quit writing stories. So, if I see myself ten years down the line in the world of literature there will be so many books with my name on them as an author.
LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?
Shipra Sharma: Marketing and quality of a book are equally important as much as content of the book. Because I am first a reader myself then a writer, I completely agree that marketing is very important for a book to reach out to it’s reader and a reader also wants a good quality book so that they only can enjoy the story not to worry about it’s pages or printing.
LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?
Shipra Sharma: I am not a motivational writer but I believe that everyone’s story, their problems and how they deal with them give us some positive or motivational message.
Main things I have noticed in my stories are
– never giving up
– strong emotions
– life can’t always be sad there are so many happy moments too, but it’s upto you how you see the situations.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Shipra Sharma: I like to reading books most of the time if I am not writing. I also love spending time with my family, cooking and watching dramas or series.
LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?
Shipra Sharma: I like to do walking. I believe, walking is best remedy for a writer. I start reading the book or listening to song and try to completely stop thinking about my writing.
When I feel my mind relax and refresh again, new ideas come into my mind automatically.
LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?
Shipra Sharma: Because it is my debut novel, I would like to give this chance to new but talented director and new and fresh faces as actors.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.
Shipra Sharma: Yes, I finished my first draft this summer and now I have started second draft of my next novel.
The story is about a teenage himachali girl who lives now in Delhi with her family and left some important part behind.
