LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?

Satish K Chowdary: Writing my book was both a challenging and deeply rewarding journey, one that started with a simple idea that gradually evolved into a complex narrative. Inspired by personal experiences and stories I felt were underrepresented in contemporary literature, I set out to create a world that readers could both escape to and see reflections of their own lives. The process involved extensive research, numerous drafts, and countless hours of editing to ensure every detail was just right. Throughout this process, I grappled with character development, plot pacing, and thematic depth, aiming to weave together a story that was as thought-provoking as it was engaging. The content of the book centers around themes of resilience and redemption, set against a backdrop that alternates between stark reality and vivid imagination. It explores the interplay between personal identity and broader societal issues, inviting readers to consider their own place in the world. The final manuscript is something I hope will not only entertain but also inspire reflection and conversation among its readers.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Satish K Chowdary: The book may offer a unique storytelling approach or narrative structure that sets it apart. This could include nonlinear storytelling, alternating perspectives, or unconventional timelines that add depth and intrigue to the plot.

“Two Decades For The Kiss” might feature complex and multi-dimensional characters with relatable flaws, motivations, and growth arcs. The depth of character development could differentiate it from other titles in the genre. The book may delve into specific themes or topics in a way that offers fresh insights or perspectives. For example, it could explore the intricacies of long-term relationships, the impact of pivotal moments in life, or the resilience of love over time.

The setting or context of the story could be unique or distinctive, adding an additional layer of interest for readers. Whether it’s a specific time period, cultural backdrop, or unusual setting, the book’s environment could set it apart from others in the genre.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Satish K Chowdary: I develop a passion for writing at a young age, often influenced by their upbringing and experiences. It’s especially meaningful when that passion is shared within the family, like your connection with your mom. Growing up in an environment that values and nurtures creativity can have a profound impact on one’s desire to write.

My mom’s influence may have played a significant role in fueling this passion, whether through encouragement, sharing her own love for writing, or simply providing a supportive environment where creativity thrives and writing can be a powerful way to express thoughts, emotions, and ideas, and it often becomes a passion for those who enjoy crafting words and creating narratives.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Satish K Chowdary: In ten years, I envision myself as a transformative figure in literature, renowned for my innovative storytelling and profound impact on contemporary writing. I aspire to have published a body of work that not only entertains but also challenges and inspires readers, breaking new ground in narrative techniques and thematic exploration. My contributions would include a blend of genres, seamlessly merging traditional forms with experimental approaches to create unique literary experiences. Beyond writing, I see myself actively fostering a vibrant literary community, mentoring emerging writers, and spearheading initiatives that promote literacy and creativity. Engaging in global literary festivals, delivering thought-provoking lectures, and collaborating on interdisciplinary projects would further define my journey. Ultimately, I aim to leave an indelible mark on the literary landscape, continually pushing the boundaries of what literature can achieve and how it can shape our understanding of the human experience.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Satish K Chowdary: Both marketing and the quality of a book are indispensable in promoting it and increasing readership, serving distinct but complementary roles. The quality of a book lays the foundation for long-term success by offering engaging content that captivates readers, fosters positive word-of-mouth, and encourages repeat readership. A well-crafted book with compelling characters, a gripping plot, and meticulous editing creates a lasting impression that can elevate it to classic status. On the other hand, marketing is the driving force that brings the book into the public eye. Strategic marketing efforts, such as targeted social media campaigns, book signings, and collaborations with influencers, ensure the book reaches its intended audience and generates initial buzz. While marketing attracts readers, the book’s quality ensures they stay, enjoy, and recommend it to others. Therefore, a harmonious balance of robust marketing strategies and high-quality content is essential for a book’s initial and sustained success in the competitive literary market.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Satish K Chowdary: The message I wish to convey through my writings is to transport readers into a rich, imaginative world where they can momentarily escape the hardships of daily life. I aim to craft narratives that immerse readers in fantastical realms and thought-provoking scenarios, offering a sanctuary for the mind and spirit. My intention is not to deliver inspirational comments or moral lessons, but to create an engaging experience that captivates and delights. By weaving intricate stories and vivid worlds, I hope to provide readers with a sense of wonder and adventure, allowing them to explore the limitless possibilities of their own imaginations.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Satish K Chowdary: Apart from writing, I am a business enthusiast and a dedicated working professional. My passion for business drives me to explore various aspects of the corporate world, from market trends to innovative strategies. I am continually seeking to expand my knowledge and skills in this field, staying updated with the latest developments and best practices. Currently, I balance my professional responsibilities with my writing, ensuring that I bring a unique perspective and practical insights into my literary work. This dual engagement not only enriches my understanding of both domains but also allows me to integrate real-world experiences into my creative endeavors, providing depth and authenticity to my writing.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Satish K Chowdary: When confronted with writer’s block, it’s essential to employ a variety of strategies that can rejuvenate your creativity and revitalize your approach to writing. Stepping out into a new environment can offer fresh perspectives and spark new ideas, making something as simple as a visit to a local cafe or park beneficial. Engaging in reading can also provide inspiration; exploring genres that differ from your usual writing helps you think outside your habitual patterns. Additionally, freewriting exercises, where you write continuously without concern for formalities, can help circumvent the internal critic that often stifles creativity. Physical activities, such as walking or yoga, not only clear mental clutter but also enhance cerebral blood flow, fostering new ideas. Engaging in other creative endeavors like sketching or playing an instrument can keep the creative wellspring flowing without the pressures of your primary project. Practices like meditation can alleviate the stress and anxiety contributing to writer’s block, while discussing your work with peers or even talking through your ideas aloud can offer new insights and break the deadlock. Sometimes, the simple act of stepping away from writing to rest and recharge can be the most effective strategy. Each of these activities is a tool in its own right, offering a pathway out of the creative impasse and back into productive writing.

LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?

Satish K Chowdary: “Two Decades for the Kiss,” a romantic fiction, were to be adapted into a movie, selecting a director and actors who can truly capture the essence and depth of the storyline would be paramount. Given the romantic and possibly time-spanning nature of the plot, a director like Richard Linklater, known for his work on Before Sunrise and its sequels, which beautifully explore the complexities of relationships over time, could be a perfect fit. Alternatively, Joe Wright, who directed Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, could bring a sweeping, cinematic quality to the adaptation.

For casting, someone like Timothée Chalamet, known for his profound emotional performances and youthful charm, could be ideal for the male lead if the character requires a sense of introspective depth mixed with romantic vulnerability. For the female lead, Saoirse Ronan, who has demonstrated a wide emotional range and strong screen presence in movies like Brooklyn and Little Women, would bring strength and nuance to the role. Their ability to convey subtle emotions and develop palpable chemistry on screen could bring the romantic dynamics of your novel vividly to life.

Choosing actors and a director who not only fit the vision of the film but can also draw audiences with their artistic credibility and box office appeal would be crucial in transforming your written words into a successful cinematic experience.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Satish K Chowdary: I’m considering writing about a mysterious love and crime, it’s a tale of love, mystery, and redemption that I estimate will take around 2 years to develop and complete.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Satish K Chowdary: To enhance their writing prowess, budding writers and poets should immerse themselves in diverse literature, write consistently, and continuously expand their vocabulary. Embracing feedback with an open mind and committing to rigorous editing are essential steps. Writers should cultivate rich characters and immersive settings, maintaining a balance between showing and telling to create engaging narratives. For poets, mastering various forms, utilizing vivid imagery, and focusing on the musicality of their work are key. Additionally, staying observant, curious, and inspired by everyday experiences can spark creativity. Keeping a journal for spontaneous ideas, participating in writing prompts, and developing a disciplined writing routine can further refine their skills.
