About Rajathi Prem
She did her schooling in Muscat. She graduated in the field of Architecture. She works with a private architecture firm. She has a keen interest in antiquities, history of architecture and archaeology with Egyptology being her favourite. She loves painting, gardening, travelling and visiting places of historical significance.
LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.
Rajathi: Revanche is science-fiction crime thriller that dives into a world of genetically engineered race horses, corporate and pharmaceutical scandals also brings out the dark side of the food industry and how people from different walks of life gather on a common platform to fight the odds and bring down the main culprits who have caused a global food crisis. The book also revolves around the complex relationship of two close-knit families and the love of a man for a highly ambitious woman who betrays him. Revanche is a saga that races back and forth a timeline of two decades.
LiFT: Why you chose this title?
Rajathi: The title of my book is called REVANCHE as it deals with a group of people who fight for a common cause to bring down the main culprits involved in causing a global food crisis leaving millions dead. in French language the word REVANCHE means REVENGE.
LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?
Rajathi: When I was 8 years old, I use to write short stories as a kid but took me a while before I could actually make my dream a reality.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Rajathi: As an established writer/ author.
LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?
Rajathi: Marketing is the most important phase for promoting any product – even if it is a book. To increase the target audience or any for that matter, good publicity and campaigning is a must to bring out the awareness amongst people or establish the presence of a new book.
LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?
Rajathi: My book REVANCHE – revolves around the darkside of the food industry. It speaks elaborately about how new scientific methods of farming have been invented to meet the demand and supply of the food industry and ways used to enhance the look and appearance of vegetables with chemicals harmful for human health and how meat products are adultrated with contaminated meat from animals used for sports such as race horses which are highly medicated and can lead to serious health problems in humans. Revanche emphasizes on the need to eat healthy food through various instances and different characters in the main-roles and supporting roles.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Rajathi: I work as a freelance architect.
LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?
Rajathi: Read, watch movies. staying in tune with the world events and current realities helps connect the dots for various scenes and ideas.
LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?
Rajathi: Christopher Nolan is a great movie/ TV serial maker. My book has multiple characters. I would love Cillian Murphy playing the role of Diego Soto.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.
Rajathi: My next book is a Romantic Comedy.
LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?
Rajathi: Staying in tune with the world events and current relaities to concoct the canvas of your story.
