LiFT: Tell us about the theme of the anthology and how did you get to know about it?

Monika Gupta: The anthology ‘Threads of Words’, as suggested by the title, is an interesting mélange of ideas and emotions well expressed by talented writers. This was brought into my knowledge by a friend of mine.

LiFT: What inspired you to write for this particular anthology?

Monika Gupta: This anthology served as a platform for my long cherished desire to contribute to the world of poetry and literature. I am grateful to get an opportunity to pen down the emotions that rest deep down in my heart.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Monika Gupta: I wish to keep writing as it gives me immense contentment and would surely like to publish a collection of my poems.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Monika Gupta: I am a teacher. Reading, listening to music and learning more about language are some other areas of my interest.

LiFT: Are you working on your own book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Monika Gupta: Yes, I am. I wish to compile my poems into an anthology that would mirror some of the very commonly experienced feelings, dilemmas, expectations and disappointments faced in human relationships. Also, I wish to include some nature poetry in my anthology.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Monika Gupta: I propose that a writer must follow his /her own idea and not leave the string of that original idea that served as an inspiration for him/her to write. Once you begin writing holding this string, you will end up well. Just believe in yourself and your pen!
