About Manjeet Kaur

Manjeet Kaur was born in Chandigarh and after a couple of years shifted to Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh. She did her schooling at Sophia Girls School and college education at Chaudhary Charan Singh University. A postgraduate in English, she has worked as a freelancer for HT City, edited school books and written articles for a few magazines.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?

Manjeet Kaur: Every page offers relatable moments that resonate deeply with the experiences we all face in our busy lives. These short, powerful expressions capture the essence of human emotions, the stories we live, the people we meet, and the lessons we learn. Whether you’re seeking comfort, wisdom, or a fresh perspective, this book is your companion for understanding the world around you.
The journey started from observing, feeling then jotting down in an artistic way to finally publishing.
It has poetry, musings, thoughts.
Introspection of the noise the heart makes but is silenced by the mind.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Manjeet Kaur: People over love, overvalue, over care so it’s natural to overthink.
Generally it is considered a blockage to carry on a normal life so it is preached, “leave, Don’t overthink, Be happy”.
Don’t you think it is necessary to overthink things before letting them go.
In order to heal you have to first feel.
It is better to overthink, sort out and heal permanently.
When everything inside is screaming for your attention you don’t need a temporary solution.
Let’s overthink might help you release your burden.
I chose the title to spread the message that it is okay to overthink and cleanse thoroughly once and for all.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Manjeet Kaur: I notice and observe a lot. Being an empath, things touch my core and it pours into words. I was sharing my thoughts on social media and getting appreciated. One of my friend’s suggested to get them published.
I always wanted to be my own boss and that’s when I realized writing is the only thing I can do.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Manjeet Kaur: I see myself writing more books and experimenting with different genre.
I can see myself being somebody’s favorite author.
Touching hearts of people far and wide and my work being acknowledged.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Manjeet Kaur: Quality and marketing give a huge boost to the sales.
If the content is good but the book quality is poor it is definitely a set back.
In today’s world every sphere needs marketing strategy to reach audience and it is the same in the case of books to attract its readers.
A good book could be sitting on the shelf gathering dust instead of readers if it is not talked about.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Manjeet Kaur: People should realize that every word uttered has weight and impact.
I want people to read, reflect, connect and understand that every person is going through something so please be gentle.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Manjeet Kaur: Reading, travelling and spending time in Nature.
Plants and good housekeeping keep me occupied.
I have an inclination towards clothing so I keep making changes in my wardrobe.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Manjeet Kaur: Positive self belief and encouragement.
Taking a small break.
Changing the environment where I am writing.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Manjeet Kaur: Yes!
It is again about people, not what they look at the surface but who they really are after peeling layers and layers.
The paradoxes of human life, love, sorrow, meetings, separation, pining, emotions, tears, fears, pain, desires, dreams, things felt, expressed and suppressed.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Manjeet Kaur: Keep reading.
Be the gentlest soul to understand feelings and surroundings.
It is only when you feel, words will flow on their own.
Once you are sure that you have written with all your heart and soul, nothing should deviate you from publishing a book.
