LiFT: Why did you choose this title?

Hanifa K. Tharin: I chose the title GRACE Found in Ordinary Days because my poems focus on the quiet beauty hidden within everyday life. Often, we overlook the small moments that shape our emotions and experiences. The title reflects my belief that grace is not extraordinary—it exists gently in daily routines, simple reflections, and unnoticed details.

LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Born in North Bengal among misted hills and singing rivers, I learned early to notice the sacred in everyday life. I realized I wanted to be a poet when writing helped me understand my emotions and the world around me. Poetry became my way of transforming quiet moments into words that resonate with others.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Ten years from now, I hope to stand as a recognized author and poet whose words carry the voices of people often unheard. I aspire to use literature as a bridge of empathy and understanding, illuminating human resilience and quiet courage. With my upcoming novel Woman in the Mist set to be published soon, I hope to continue creating works that reflect deep emotion and truth. Through poetry and prose, I aim to write stories that inspire reflection, compassion, and lasting connection among readers.

LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Both marketing and quality are crucial. A well-crafted book ensures lasting impact, while effective marketing connects it with the right readers. Together, they amplify visibility, engagement, and appreciation, helping the work reach and resonate with a wider audience.

LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Through my writing, I strive to illuminate the profound in the ordinary, revealing grace, resilience, and hope hidden within everyday life. My words seek to awaken reflection, evoke empathy, and create a quiet dialogue between reader and experience, celebrating the subtle, transformative beauty that often goes unnoticed.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Apart from writing, I have worked as an educator in UK state schools, gaining hands-on experience that broadened my perspective and enriched both professional and personal growth. Immersed in diverse environments, I deepened my understanding of resilience, empathy, and shared humanity, insights that continue to shape my writing.

LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?

Hanifa K. Tharin: When faced with writer’s block, I often take a deliberate break, stepping away from words to regain clarity. During this pause, I reflect, observe everyday life, read poetry, or immerse myself in nature. Returning refreshed, I reconnect with my thoughts, allowing inspiration to flow and guide my writing naturally.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?

Hanifa K. Tharin: Woman in the Mist is a diaspora novel tracing a family’s journey from Afghanistan to India, from rugged mountains to monsoon-soaked plains. Blending literary fiction with historical migration, it explores endurance, hope, faith, and memory, revealing the quiet resilience of women across generations and the intimate, enduring bonds that sustain them through displacement and change.

LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?

Hanifa K. Tharin: For aspiring writers and poets, immerse yourself in reading and the subtle rhythms of life. Write with sincerity, observe with quiet attention, and embrace the art of revision. Let reflection, patience, and lived experience shape your words, allowing each line to resonate with depth, emotion, and enduring meaning.
