LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content?
Dr. Riya Sharma: The book has been written as a tribute to the families of the defence, who manage the absence in the most beautiful and capable ways, being an army officers daughter I have had my own share of father not being around and now being an army officers wife when I saw my own kid asking, where is dad, why other kids dad are always there and not mine, it made me feel that while the adults understand the role, the kids need to be catered in a different way and hence the book was born, the books talks about how the void is bridged by the lady behind the men in uniform, while the kids talk about times the father was absent, moms make them aware of the times they were present and teach them the importance and responsibilities of the uniform their father wears.
