LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.
Amna Khan: Cockles of the heart is based on true event. Some tragic love incident happened in my life and I’ve decided to write a book on my own experience and give people a hope of not losing their self when someone leaves them. It’s a journey of self and divine love. Something that connects you with your actual soul.
LiFT: Why you chose this title?
Amna Khan: Cockles of the heart means something that has gone deep into your soul. And what happened in my life changed myself completely. I felt it in my heart. That’s why I named it cockles of the heart.
LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?
Amna Khan: I used to write a lot when I was in my high school but then i quite writing because I had to complete my studies and focus on my degree then after my last year of degree I’ve been thru a tragic love incident which made me realise to write a book. And i did write it.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Amna Khan: I would see myself on cloud nine. More calmer more famous, more wiser and somewhere, where I always wanted to be.
LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?
Amna Khan: Well everything depends on marketing. The more you market your product the more peppy will see it and find interest to read it.
LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?
Amna Khan: Do whatever you like and wanna be in your life but never break anyone’s trust and just go with the flow, keep trying. Donot stop whatever happens in your life just keep going. Because one day all will be done in the way you want.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Amna Khan: I’m an artist. I paint and I run my own clothing line.
LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?
Amna Khan: Reading, painting, journalising, using writing prompts, mine mapping and listening to music. And most importantly final thoughts.
LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?
Amna Khan: Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mahesh Bhatt. And actors will be Aditya Roy Kapoor.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.
Amna Khan: Yes, I’m working on my next book. Which will be a part 2 of “cockles of the heart. It will be on spirituality.
LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?
Amna Khan: Feel it from your heart and then write it. Until you don’t feel it from the core of your heart. You want be able to write your feelings and thoughts.
