About Akanksha Basu
Akanksha Basu, twenty years old is a student of Literature at a renowned college in Kolkata, India. A lover of all forms of art – she has recently started putting her thoughts to paper in the form of poetry. She has a uniquely eclectic voice, which reflects in the lines she writes which contain a palpable spark. A self-professed Austen fan, she intends to travel the world and spread the power of literature across.
LiFT: Tell us about the theme of the anthology and how did you get to know about it?
Akanksha Basu: This book is about how words can evoke a variety of emotions in our heart and are interconnected with our very essence. I learned about it through Instagram.
LiFT: What inspired you to write for this particular anthology?
Akanksha Basu: I love writing poems which touches a person’s soul and wanted to contribute to an anthology which understands the beauty of literature.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Akanksha Basu: I want to become a professor and I also want to write a book which might change a person’s life.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Akanksha Basu: I am a student and love to learn about literature, art, philosophy etc.
LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?
Akanksha Basu: Poets, according to me, should follow their heart while writing even more than their mind. I will just repeat Wordsworth’s definition of poetry, “Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings”.
