LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Vivaan Karulkar: The Sanatan Dharam: True Source of All Science is a thought-provoking work authored by Vivaan Karulkar at the age of 16, presenting a perspective that ancient Vedic knowledge holds profound scientific insights. The book was formally launched on 22 January 2024 at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, during the historic Pran-Pratishtha ceremony, by the General Secretary of the Temple Trust, Shri Champat Rai Ji, through the sacred placement of the book in the Garbh Gruh at the feet of Ram Lalla Ji.
Comprising 46 chapters, the book explores a wide range of subjects, drawing parallels between concepts described in the Vedas and modern scientific understanding. It presents a perspective that several principles regarded as modern scientific discoveries find their reflection in ancient Vedic knowledge.
The journey of writing this book was driven by deep curiosity, extensive study of scriptures, and a strong intent to present these ideas to the modern generation. Through this work, Vivaan aims to encourage readers to think critically, explore knowledge beyond conventional narratives, and develop a deeper appreciation for India’s intellectual heritage.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Vivaan Karulkar: The title reflects the core idea of the book—that Sanatan Dharam holds profound scientific insights that have existed for thousands of years. It emphasizes the perspective that what we consider modern science today has deep roots in ancient knowledge systems.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Vivaan Karulkar: I realized my inclination toward writing at the age of 16 while exploring the depth of Sanatan Dharam and its intellectual richness. I felt a strong urge to present these ideas in a way that resonates with the modern generation and encourages independent thinking. Writing became a medium for me to express these perspectives and contribute meaningfully to intellectual discourse.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Vivaan Karulkar: Over the next ten years, I see myself as a globally recognized author and thought leader contributing to literature that explores science, philosophy, and deeper intellectual inquiry. I aim to create work that challenges perspectives and inspires meaningful thinking.
LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?
Vivaan Karulkar: I believe the quality of a book is fundamental, as it determines the depth of its impact. At the same time, marketing plays a crucial role in ensuring that the work reaches the right audience. Both are essential, quality builds credibility, while marketing builds visibility.
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Vivaan Karulkar: Through my writing, I aim to encourage people to think beyond accepted narratives, explore knowledge deeply, and take pride in our intellectual heritage. I want to inspire a mindset of curiosity, confidence, and purpose.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Vivaan Karulkar: Apart from writing, I am currently studying astrophysics and remain actively engaged in scientific exploration, innovation, and philosophical inquiry. I also participate in discussions and platforms where ideas related to science and Sanatan Dharam are explored and shared.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Vivaan Karulkar: When I face writer’s block, I turn to reading scriptures, exploring scientific literature, and practicing meditation. These help me regain clarity and reconnect with my thought process.
LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?
Vivaan Karulkar: If my story were to be adapted into a film, I would prefer a director who can handle depth and complex ideas, such as Christopher Nolan. I would envision a film that focuses on ideas and intellectual exploration, supported by actors who can portray depth and intensity.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
Vivaan Karulkar: Yes, I continue to work on future projects that explore deeper connections between knowledge systems, innovation, and futuristic thinking. My aim is to expand these ideas further and present them in impactful ways.
LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?
Vivaan Karulkar: I would suggest aspiring writers to read extensively, think independently, and write consistently. Focus on originality, clarity of thought, and meaningful content rather than following trends.
