About Kavya Shah
Kavya, a bright and passionate 18-year-old girl from Gujarat who sees the world in the most amazing way, through the lens of love! Seriously, it’s like she has a superpower for finding the heart in everything. And guess what? She turned that superpower into a book!
As a proud member of the Jain community, Kavya is deeply rooted in her culture and values. Her upbringing has instilled in her a sense of kindness and grace that flows naturally through her pen. She beautifully balances her traditional roots with a modern, fresh perspective, proving that you can be a dreamer while staying grounded in where you come from.
Beautiful, driven, and exceptionally talented, Kavya is a young woman who isn’t afraid to chase her dreams. She writes to connect, to heal, and to remind us all that there is beauty in every fragment of our lives. When you read her words, you aren’t just reading a story; you are seeing the world through the eyes of a girl who believes in the magic of connection.
Her voice is as soothing as a cup of chai, and her debut book, “Fragments of Our Soul,” is a delightful blend of romance and realism. This gifted writer’s words are infused with kindness, humor, and a refreshing perspective – she believes love is not blind, but a choice to see beyond the imperfections and cherish the flaws.
When she isn’t weaving stories that touch the soul, Kavya can be found seeking beauty in the small things and cherishing the connections that make life worth writing about.
Ultimately, Kavya’s journey is a beautiful reminder that our dreams don’t wait for us to grow up, they only wait for us to say ‘yes.
Kavya doesn’t just write to tell a story; she writes to build a world where love is a choice and every dream is valid. She is a voice of her generation, a daughter of Gujarat, and a dreamer who is only just beginning.
LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Kavya Shah: My writing journey began in 2023, tucked away in the corners of my 11th-grade classroom. At first, my words weren’t meant for the world; they were just for me, a way to process the beauty and complexity of life. Like many young writers, I held a quiet dream of one day seeing my name on a bookshelf, but I never imagined I would achieve that dream at just 18.
At its heart, this book is a journey back to the soul. In a fast-paced world where the meaning of love often gets lost in digital noise, I wanted to explore the depths of unconditional love, the kind that is patient, kind, and deeply intentional.
The book touches on the delicate art of letting go and the strength it takes to move forward while keeping your heart open. My vision was to revive the essence of ‘old-school love’, the type that values connection over convenience and sees beauty in imperfections. It’s a blend of romance and realism designed to remind this generation that love isn’t just a feeling we find, but a choice we make every single day.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Kavya Shah: The title, Fragments of Our Soul, actually came to me in a moment of sudden inspiration, and from that second, I knew I would never change it. It felt right, almost as if the book had named itself.
The title was deeply inspired by my subtitle: ‘Love leaves fragments, not scars.’ I wanted to challenge the idea that when a connection ends or changes, we are left ‘damaged.’ To me, love is never a wound.
Even if things don’t last forever, they leave behind beautiful ‘fragments’,tiny pieces of wisdom, warmth, and memory that stay part of our soul forever. These fragments don’t hurt us; they decorate us. They make us who we are. The title is a tribute to the belief that love always adds to our lives, it never subtracts.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Kavya Shah: For a long time, I was the shy, introverted girl who lived more in her own world than the real one. I often struggled to put my thoughts into spoken words, it felt like my heart had a language that my voice couldn’t quite translate. But when I picked up a pen, everything changed. Writing felt like coming home. I started writing because it was my path to healing. It allowed me to say the things I was too quiet to speak aloud.
I truly believe that every person, especially us introverts, is gifted with a unique way to express their inner world, whether it’s through dancing, singing, or art. For me, it was the rhythm of sentences.
I’ve come to realize that my introversion isn’t a barrier; it is a gift. Because I spent so much time observing from the sidelines, I learned to notice the tiny details that others might miss. I write because I want to show others that being quiet doesn’t mean you don’t have a story to tell. It just means you’re waiting for the right way to share it.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Kavya Shah: Ten years from now, I see myself as a seasoned storyteller who has never lost her ’18-year-old’ heart. My dream is to have built a body of work that serves as a sanctuary for readers, a place where they can go to feel understood and reminded of the beauty in their own ‘fragments.’
I hope to be a voice that bridge the gap between our traditional roots and the modern heart, continuing to advocate for a world where love is deep, intentional, and old-school. Beyond my own books, I see myself mentoring other young, introverted dreamers, especially girls from small towns with big thoughts, helping them realize that their quietness is their greatest strength.
Ultimately, in ten years, I don’t just want to be a ‘published author’; I want to be a writer whose words have helped a generation believe in the magic of connection and the power of their own voice.
LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?
Kavya Shah: I believe that Quality is the soul of the book, while Marketing is its voice.
Quality is non-negotiable. As a writer, my first responsibility is to the reader, to ensure that every word is sincere, every emotion is real, and the ‘fragments’ I share are polished and meaningful. Quality is what creates ‘word-of-mouth.’ It’s the reason a reader tells their best friend, ‘You have to read this.’ Without quality, marketing is just noise; you can convince someone to buy a book, but you can’t convince them to love it.
However, in today’s world, Marketing is how you build a bridge to your audience. Especially as a young author, marketing is my way of saying, ‘I have something for you.’ It’s not just about selling; it’s about connection. It’s about finding those other ‘introverted souls’ and ‘old-school lovers’ who are looking for exactly what I’ve written.
In short: Quality ensures the book stays in their hearts, but Marketing ensures the book finds its way into their hands. To me, a successful book is where a beautiful, high-quality story meets a passionate, honest conversation with the world.
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Kavya Shah: The heart of my message is simple: You are whole, even in your fragments. Through my writing, I want to remind people that love isn’t a performance of perfection; it’s a quiet, brave choice to see beauty in the flaws. In a world that often feels fast and filtered, I want my words to encourage readers to slow down and embrace ‘old-school’ depth. I want them to know that it’s okay to be sensitive, it’s okay to be quiet, and it’s okay to feel deeply.
Most importantly, I want to convey that nothing is ever truly lost. Every experience we go through leaves behind a ‘fragment’,not as a scar of pain, but as a piece of wisdom that makes our soul more beautiful. I hope my readers finish my book feeling a little more hopeful, a little more connected, and a lot more convinced that their own story is worth telling.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Kavya Shah: When I’m not lost in the world of metaphors and emotions, I am navigating the rigorous world of Chartered Accountancy. Currently, I’m a CA student, which often surprises people because it feels like the opposite of creative writing! But I find a unique balance between the two: while CA keeps me disciplined and grounded, writing allows my soul to breathe and wander.
Like many 18-year-olds, I’m also in the beautiful, messy process of figuring out my life. I’m learning that I don’t have to choose just one path, I can be a person of logic and a person of magic at the same time. Apart from my studies and my pen, I spend my time observing the world, having deep conversations, and discovering who I am outside of the titles I carry. I’m a work in progress, and I’m enjoying every bit of the journey.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Kavya Shah: When I face writer’s block, I don’t fight it; I surrender to the things that ground me. I retreat to a specific corner of my garden, a place that feels alive with positive vibrations and a strange, beautiful peace.
There, with a warm cup of chai in my hand, I let the legends take over. I lose myself in the timeless voices of Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, and the soulful ghazals of Jagjit Singh. There is a certain stillness in old Bollywood classics that modern music often misses. As the melody fills the air, I stop being a CA student or even an author; I just become an observer of emotions.
This ‘classic’ atmosphere is so vital to me that I’ve shared it in my book, I’ve included 16 songs for my readers to scan, so they can step into my garden, hear what I hear, and feel the soul of the story exactly the way I did while writing it.
LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?
Kavya Shah: Because my book is a blend of romance, realism, and deep-rooted culture, I would want the film to feel like a painting in motion.
The Director: I would love to see someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Imtiaz Ali take the helm. Bhansali has that ‘classic rich taste’ and an eye for the soul of Indian culture, while Imtiaz Ali understands the journey of a soul and the beauty of ‘finding oneself’ through love. They both know how to use silence and music as a language.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
Kavya Shah: Right now, my heart is completely focused on Fragments of Our Soul and the journey it’s taking with my readers. However, as a writer, I don’t think the stories in your head ever truly go silent. There is definitely something stimulating in my mind, a few new fragments of ideas that are beginning to take shape.
I’m not in a rush; I believe stories have their own timing. But if the Divine allows and I have the support of my readers, I would love to pour my soul into a second book. For me, writing is a conversation with the universe, and as long as there is music to listen to in my garden and tea in my cup, I think there will always be more stories to tell. Until then, I am simply enjoying this chapter and seeing where it leads.
LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?
Kavya Shah: To me, writing is beyond everything and anything; it is the only space where you can be raw, real, and completely honest without the fear of being judged.
My advice is simple: Just start. Don’t wait for a grand idea. If you’ve had a bad day, write it onto the paper. If something beautiful happened, capture that light. Writing is your healing ground. Even if you choose to write fiction, always remember that your real thoughts and your deepest truths will inevitably reflect through your characters. There is no such thing as ‘hiding’ in writing, it is a mirror of the soul.
So, pick up your pen and let your imagination take you to worlds that are yet to be explored. Don’t worry about being perfect; worry about being authentic. The world doesn’t need more ‘perfect’ stories, it needs yours.

This book, Fragments of Our Souls, was a genuine delight. While you might expect a love story to be solely sorrowful, this felt more like discovering a treasured photo album. It is bittersweet, but in the warmest and most heartfelt way.
Kavya Shah writes with such warmth and perceptive wit, even during the most tender moments. She has a gift for describing a shared glance or a private joke that makes you feel you are part of it. I adored the characters so completely that I kept wanting to step into the pages with them. The story celebrates love not by making it flawless, but by making it beautifully real, fragile, and enduring.
It left my heart feeling full in that specific way only a wonderful story can. It felt like making new friends and rooting for them long after the final chapter. It was an utter joy to read.
