LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.

Ameya Tikekar: The book is fiction but it resembles the truth. No book on software industry has been written in this manner yet, which is suprising. i wanted to explore human complexities through this prism.

LiFT: Why did you choose this title?

Ameya Tikekar: It’s apt. Also wanted to give a tribute to Louisa May Alcott’s work which inspired me.

LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?

Ameya Tikekar: I would say it was Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Ameya Tikekar: Author who’s book has sold a million copies.

LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?

Ameya Tikekar: Very. It’s so important that the book reached the target audience and they read it. It’s a very difficult job as the number of readers are dwindling as well.

LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?

Ameya Tikekar: Honestly never thought about it, for me it was just a way to express

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Ameya Tikekar: I paint at times as a hobby.

LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?

Ameya Tikekar: I wait for the inspiration to write again. In some ways it’s a channeling.

LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?

Ameya Tikekar: I wonder if this book can be adopted but if it does, then I would want the actors to be real 22 years old and a director who’s meticulous on getting the story right, instead of worrying about the numbers.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?

Ameya Tikekar: It’s based on apocalypse and collapse of the world as we know it.

LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?

Ameya Tikekar: Write for yourself to express. Don’t please others.
