About Jaskiran Kaur

Jaskiran Kaur is a graphic designer by profession and a storyteller by soul, based in Delhi, India. Her inspiration for writing comes from the unpredictable nature of real life the kind that tests you with scars, yet demands you trust anyway. She believes stories should bleed before they heal, and writes the kind of love she once wished someone had written for her. Her words carry fire, softness, and truth all at once because she knows that survival sometimes comes wrapped in silence and stories no one sees. Her Version of Love is her heartfelt debut, born from pain, passion, and the quiet power of standing tall even when everything tries to break you.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writiang it, and its content.

Jaskiran Kaur: My writing journey began with scattered thoughts in my notebook slowly grew into a manuscript that has now become my first published book. Her Version of Love reflects not just a fictional tale but also fragments of experiences, emotions, and dreams close to me. It’s a story of love, betrayal, family secrets, and healing, set across places that hold beauty and depth. My writing journey taught me resilience, consistency, and the joy of creating something lasting.

LiFT: Why did you choose this title?

Jaskiran Kaur: I chose the title Her Version of Love because this story is about love seen through Hazel’s eyes—the way she feels it, defines it, and sometimes struggles with it. Love is never the same for everyone, and through her journey, I wanted to show how deeply personal and unique one’s version of love can be.

LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?

Jaskiran Kaur: I realized I wanted to be a writer when I understood how deeply stories could touch hearts and stay with people long after the last page. My biggest inspiration has always been my mother—she would tell me stories, reminding me that not all of them are fairy tales. Some come with struggles and challenges, yet the people who truly love each other choose to stay together by understanding and accepting their flaws. That wisdom shaped both my life and my writing, and it continues to guide the stories I create.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Jaskiran Kaur: Ten years down the line, I see myself as a growing voice in the world of literature, with stories that not only touch hearts but also inspire readers to reflect on love, resilience, and the beauty of human flaws. I hope to see my books reach across cultures and languages, leaving behind a legacy of meaningful tales. At the same time, I want to challenge myself by exploring different genres, discovering new ways to tell stories, and continuing to evolve as a writer with every book I create.

LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?

Jaskiran Kaur: I believe both marketing and the quality of a book go hand in hand when it comes to reaching readers. A well-written book with depth and honesty creates a lasting impact, but without the right marketing, it may never reach the audience it deserves. At the same time, strong marketing can attract readers, but it is the quality of the story that keeps them connected and turns them into loyal readers. For me, marketing opens the door, but it’s the heart and quality of the book that make people stay.

LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?

Jaskiran Kaur: Through my writing, I want to remind readers that every story carries its own truth, shaped by perspective and experience. Life isn’t always a fairy tale—it often comes with struggles, flaws, and heartbreak—but within that brokenness, there is strength, beauty, and the chance to heal. My stories are meant to show that even in silence or pain, hope quietly exists, and love has a way of finding us when we least expect it. Above all, I want my words to create connection, reminding us that no matter where we come from, we all share emotions that make us human.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Jaskiran Kaur: Apart from writing, I am also a graphic designer. Designing allows me to explore creativity visually, while writing gives me the space to express it through words. Both passions balance each other beautifully—where one tells a story through images, the other tells it through emotions on the page.

LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?

Jaskiran Kaur: When words don’t flow, I recharge—through design, reading, music, or quiet moments. These pauses remind me that creativity doesn’t vanish, it just needs space to return. Sometimes I go for a walk, listen to music, or simply sit with a cup of coffee. These small breaks help me clear my mind and return to writing with fresh perspective.

LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?

Jaskiran Kaur: I haven’t decided on a dream cast yet—I’ll think more about it. But if Her Version of Love were ever adapted for the screen, I could imagine Alia Bhatt as Hazel and Sidharth Malhotra as Jasper. Their chemistry and ability to bring depth to emotions would beautifully match the essence of the story, set against the backdrops of Morocco and Italy.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?

Jaskiran Kaur: Yes, I am currently working on my next book. It will be a thrilling and suspenseful story, layered with unexpected twists and turns. After that, I plan to work on a series with a unique concept that I’m really excited to bring to life.

LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?

Jaskiran Kaur: Read Widely – Explore different genres, styles, and authors. Every book or poem you read teaches you something new about language, rhythm, and storytelling.

Write Consistently – Don’t wait for inspiration to strike. Set aside time to write regularly; even small daily habits sharpen your skills.

Embrace Imperfection – Your first draft doesn’t have to be perfect. Writing is rewriting—so allow yourself to make mistakes and grow from them.

Observe Life Closely – Pay attention to the details around you—conversations, emotions, small gestures. Great writing often comes from noticing what others overlook.

Experiment with Form – Try different structures, voices, and perspectives. For poets, play with rhyme and free verse; for writers, switch between first-person and third-person.

Seek Feedback – Share your work with people you trust. Constructive criticism can help you see blind spots and polish your voice.

Keep a Journal – Capture fleeting thoughts, images, or emotions. These small notes often become seeds for larger works later.

Be Patient – Writing is a process of discovery. Growth comes with time, practice, and persistence.

Protect Your Voice – Learn from others, but don’t lose what makes your perspective unique. Your authenticity is your biggest strength.

Write with Heart – Whether it’s a poem or a novel, let your words carry truth and emotion. Readers connect most with honesty.
