Debjyoti Das, an Author and Poet, is professionally a teacher of English language and literature from Kolkata.

Having a keen interest in literature, and an avid reader of renowned authors and poets, Debjyoti has started his literary endeavour from his teenage writing for vernacular magazines and later started writing in English language.

In 2020, he received the Humanitarian Award from a London based international NGO for inspiring humanity worldwide through his poems.

A prolific writer who has co-authored more than thirty-five anthologies till now and received many awards for his contribution to literature.
His recent book of love poems ‘Only for you, My Love’, has been released and instantly became favourite among his readers and well-wishers.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.

Debjyoti Das: ‘Only for you, My Love’ is a collection of fifty-one love poems, beautifully penned down the panoramic views of joys and sorrows involving love in the context of modern socio-economic and cultural conditions as experienced by us.
The journey of writing the book is immensely enjoyable, profoundly experiencing the beauty of love among all adversities of life.
Obviously the content of the book is purely and truly romanticism of our life.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Debjyoti Das: Well, I think the title of a book must be romantic as well as realistic and the reader must feel a true belonging as well as relatable. The title of a book should truly speak the suppressed emotion of the readers.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Debjyoti Das: I never wanted to be a writer but I wanted to express myself through my writings. For me, it is a desire to express my thoughts and emotions which maybe truly relatable to my readers.
As I have been an avid reader of renowned authors and poets from my teenage, so they are my true inspiration behind my writing endeavour. Although I have a keen urge to express my feelings through my writings.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Debjyoti Das: A Poet and Author in the world of literature who spoke the very common but unexpressed feelings of every individual. Thus I see myself as a literary contributor ten years down the line, who does not fades into oblivion.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Debjyoti Das: Marketing and quality of a book is immensely important to promote a particularl book and to increase its readers. In this context I must appreciate your dedicated cooperation to the young and upcoming authors and poets.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Debjyoti Das: Unconditional love is the message that I want to spread among folks with my writings. I truly believe that if my intention is as clear as a crystal, then none or nothing can be a hindrance.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Debjyoti Das: Apart, from writing, I am a teacher of English language and literature.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Debjyoti Das: Meeting more and more people enjoying my time, because innumerable objects surrounding me can work as a catalyst to remove my writer’s block.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Debjyoti Das: I have just thought to start working on my next book, which must be a book of poems, a compilation of my own works.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Debjyoti Das: Just hear what your soul is telling and thus expressing your profound emotions in words. Read as many books as you find interesting to improve the writing style and form.
