LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Sanjeev Verma: The Alchemy of Vedic and Yogic Psychology examines how ancient Indian ideas about the mind can be understood and used in today’s psychology and high-performance settings. It combines Vedic and Yogic principles with modern insights to provide a clear, practical way to manage emotions, improve mental clarity, and influence behavior. The book developed from years of noticing patterns of stress and overwhelm, highlighting the need for methods that extend beyond just thinking strategies. This inspired the translation of traditional wisdom into an easy-to-use format. At its heart, the book connects ancient knowledge with today’s psychological needs through a practical and organized framework.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Sanjeev Verma: The title The Alchemy of Vedic and Yogic Psychology reflects the main goal of the work, which is transformation. Just as alchemy means turning something ordinary into something refined, the book focuses on how inner patterns, conditioned responses, and mental clutter can change into clarity, balance, and awareness. The term also highlights the combination of two aspects: the depth of Vedic and Yogic wisdom and its practical use in understanding and reshaping the human mind. It is not only about theory; it is about a process that leads to meaningful psychological and experiential change.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Sanjeev Verma: The inclination to write developed gradually instead of occurring in a single moment. It started as a natural way to process observations, experiences, and personal questions, especially about the mind, emotions, and human behavior. As time passed, writing changed from personal reflection into a more structured form of expression. The inspiration mainly came from a mix of lived experiences, working with others, and engaging with both psychological and traditional knowledge systems. Writing became a way to clarify complex ideas and make them easier to understand, while also creating something that could be useful to others.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Sanjeev Verma: Ten years from now, I see my work making a real impact at the crossroads of psychology, consciousness, and practical wisdom literature. I want to create a body of writing that is not only conceptually solid but also useful. My aim is for this work to be applied in education, therapy, and personal development.
Beyond individual books, I see this evolving into structured frameworks, courses, and collaborative work with institutions, where literature becomes a bridge between knowledge and real-world application. The intention is to create writing that endures—not just as content, but as a system that supports clarity, growth, and transformation.
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Sanjeev Verma: Through my writing, I aim to show that clarity, balance, and transformation are not distant ideals. They are accessible through understanding how the mind works. Much of our stress, confusion, and emotional struggle comes from patterns that we can observe and gradually reshape.
The message is simple: when we learn to work with our breath, attention, and awareness, we gain the ability to respond to life more consciously rather than reactively. My intention is to offer a framework that helps people understand themselves better and create a more stable, aware, and meaningful inner life.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Sanjeev Verma: Apart from writing, I focus on teaching and guidance, especially on Vedic and Yogic frameworks of the mind. I conduct sessions and programs that help people gain clarity, emotional balance, and a better understanding of their inner processes. My work also includes creating structured courses, collaborating with students and professionals, and finding ways to apply these ideas in practical areas like education and wellbeing programs.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Sanjeev Verma: When I hit writer’s block, I take a break from writing and focus on observing and being still. Practices like mindful breathing, quiet reflection, or just stepping away from structured thinking help me regain clarity. I also go back to the main idea I want to convey instead of pushing for the right words. Often, I find that clarity comes back when my mind is relaxed. For me, writing flows more easily when there is room to breathe rather than feeling pressured.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
Sanjeev Verma: Yes, I’m currently working on a book titled Mind Demystified. It looks at a deeper understanding of the mind, including its dual nature, how perception shapes experience, and how inner patterns influence manifestation.
LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?
Sanjeev Verma: Write consistently, even when it doesn’t feel perfect. Clarity comes with practice. Read widely to understand different styles, but don’t lose your own voice. Observe deeply; good writing comes from how you see, not just what you say. Most importantly, edit without attachment. Refinement is where writing truly evolves.
