LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.

Madhukar Parikh: The writing of The Luminous Thread was a deeply personal evolution for me. After forty years in the industrial sector—ascending from the shop floor to the executive boardroom—I felt a calling to synthesize my technical background with my spiritual journey. This book was born from that intersection, where the precision of engineering meets the profound depths of ancient wisdom.
Writing this narrative allowed me to explore the “Industry Yogi” philosophy on a grander scale. I wanted to tell a story that wasn’t just about personal success, but about the collective harmony of our planet and the untapped potential of the human mind.
The Core: Science and Mysticism in Harmony
In this book, I move beyond the traditional and dive into the creation of a revolutionary harmony device designed to bring balance to a fractured world. The story follows two distinct yet complementary protagonists:
* Leon: A brilliant Electrical Engineer (a character who mirrors my own technical foundations) who brings the logic, structure, and physical laws of science to the table.
* Rushik: A profound Mystic who understands the ethereal, the spiritual, and the unseen energies that govern existence.
Together, they bridge the gap between two seemingly opposite worlds. Their journey to develop this device represents the ultimate “Luminous Thread”—the connection between rigorous scientific innovation and spiritual enlightenment. Through their collaboration, I explore how the integration of modern technology and timeless mysticism can solve the world’s most complex challenges and lead humanity toward a state of true, lasting harmony.

LiFT: Why did you choose this title?

Madhukar Parikh: The title The Luminous Thread was chosen to represent the subtle yet unbreakable connection that binds the disparate worlds of science and spirituality. In my journey as both an engineer and a yogi, I realized that truth is not found in one or the other, but in the “thread” that weaves them together.
The word “Luminous” signifies the light of knowledge and the brilliance of the human intellect. Whether it is the technical spark of Leon’s electrical engineering or the enlightened vision of Rushik’s mysticism, both are guided by a light that illuminates the path toward global harmony.
The “Thread” represents the continuity of life, purpose, and energy. Just as a single thread holds a complex tapestry together, this story illustrates how a harmony device—and indeed our own lives—requires the perfect integration of the physical and the metaphysical. I chose this title to show that when we connect our technical skills with our inner wisdom, we create a path of light that can lead the world out of chaos and into a state of brilliant, unified peace.

LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?

Madhukar Parikh: My realization to become a writer occurred during my “2nd inning” of life, following a profound awakening that ended a 40-year hiatus from reading. After decades of focusing on the corporate “doing” of life, I reclaimed my curiosity at a Bengaluru airport, which sparked a literary renaissance within me.
The primary motivator and mentor who turned me into an author was Robin Sharma. His book, Leadership Wisdom, originally ignited my “unquenchable thirst” for knowledge. However, the true turning point was meeting him in person at an event in Hyderabad. Shaking his hand and feeling his infectious energy transformed him from a distant author into a personal mentor. It was his words and example that planted the “daring and bold ambition” in my mind to transition from a dedicated reader to a writer myself.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Madhukar Parikh: In ten years, I envision myself as a globally recognized, best-selling author whose works resonate across borders. My ultimate aspiration is to be honored with the **Padma Shri**, a testament to my contribution to the Indian literary landscape.
During this decade, I aim to build a prolific legacy by publishing a couple of dozen books, each designed to enlighten and guide. More importantly, I strive to be a beacon of inspiration for aspiring writers, demonstrating that with dedication, curiosity, and a growth mindset, anyone can transform their vision into a voice that moves the world.

LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?

Madhukar Parikh: In the journey of an author, marketing and quality are the two strands of a single “Luminous Thread”—both are essential to weave a success story.
1. Quality: The Foundation
Quality is the soul of the work. As I’ve learned through my own transition into writing, a book must offer intellectual brilliance to resonate. High quality ensures:
* Reader Retention: It turns a casual reader into a lifelong follower.
* Organic Growth: Word-of-mouth is the most powerful endorsement; it’s what leads a book to be translated into multiple languages.
* **Lasting Legacy:** Only quality work stands the test of time and builds the credibility needed for prestigious honors like the Padma Shri.
2. Marketing: The Bridge
Marketing is the vehicle that delivers your wisdom to the world. Without it, even a masterpiece remains hidden.
* Visibility: It cuts through the noise of a crowded global market.
* Inspiration: Effective marketing shares the author’s journey, inspiring new writers to find their own voices.
* Credibility: Awards and strategic promotion act as a “seal of trust” for potential readers.
The Verdict: Marketing gets the book into the reader’s hands, but quality keeps it in their heart. To become a global bestseller, you must master both—the art of writing and the science of reach.

LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?

Madhukar Parikh: My writings serve as a “Luminous Thread” connecting the high-stakes world of corporate leadership with the timeless discipline of spiritual wisdom. Through my work, I convey three core messages:
* The Power of the Pivot: I am living proof that growth has no expiration date. I teach that it is never too late to reclaim your curiosity and launch a brilliant “second inning,” regardless of how long your passions have been dormant.
* Harmonizing Logic and Spirit: I bridge the gap between the precision of the engineer and the vision of the mystic. My work demonstrates that true progress occurs when we integrate modern scientific achievement with deep-rooted spiritual values.
* The Industry Yogi Philosophy: I advocate for a life of “Continuous Learning,” where professional excellence and personal wellness are inseparable. I challenge readers to master their inner dialogue, fostering the mental clarity and resilience needed to lead with purpose.
Ultimately, I write to inspire others to move beyond a life of just “doing” and into a life of “being”—reaching for their highest potential through strength, wisdom, and selfless service.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Madhukar Parikh: Beyond my literary pursuits, I find immense joy in embracing my “second inning” through meaningful connections and daily rituals. My days are anchored by the light of my life—my two wonderful grandchildren—whose company reminds me of the beauty in simple, heartfelt moments.
Every morning, I head to the park to practice Yoga and Pranayama. It is a sacred time for me, not only for my own well-being but as an opportunity to mentor the younger generation. I enjoy guiding them on the art of living happily and the importance of remaining anchored in the present moment.
As the sun sets, I join my senior citizens’ group. These evenings are filled with shared laughter and the warmth of true companionship. Whether I am acting as a mentor in the morning or sharing stories with peers in the evening, I strive to live by the same principles of harmony and presence that I share in my books.

LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?

Madhukar Parikh: When facing writer’s block, I don’t see it as a hurdle, but as a signal from the mind to shift from “doing” to “being.” As an Industry Yogi, I believe that when the ink stops flowing, it is because the internal reservoir needs a recharge.

LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?

Madhukar Parikh: If I were to step onto the screen, I would envision myself in a leading character role that mirrors the core of my books: a figure who embodies the “Industry Yogi.”

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?

Madhukar Parikh: My upcoming book, “The Luminous Journey of an Industry Yogi,” is a culmination of forty years of grit, leadership, and transformation. Using the metaphor of a garden, I explore how even the most promising ideas—like creeping vines—can wither without a precision-engineered “irrigation system” of wisdom and strategy.
This work is built on three transformative pillars designed to guide you from ground-level survival to peak success:
* Stage 1: The Organic Foundation – We explore the internal architecture of success, drawing from original wisdom forged in the days of kerosene lamps, long before the age of algorithms.
* Stage 2: The Path of Execution – Here, I provide the tactical mechanics of growth: Think, Plan, Own, and Act. These are the gears required to transition from a horizontal “creeper” to a vertical success story.
* Stage 3: The Peak Alert – Reaching the summit is only half the battle. This section provides the cautionary principles needed to maintain stability once you reach the top.
Inspired by the intellectual brilliance and physical strength of Himalayan legends, this book is not just about data—it is about Intellectual Brilliance. It is a call to shift your mindset and follow a balanced path to “Grow Rich” in both business and life.

LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?

Madhukar Parikh: For budding writers and poets, I suggest treating your craft as a blend of spiritual discipline and strategic execution. Here is my advice for finding your voice:
* Be a Voracious Reader: You cannot pour from an empty cup. My own journey began by reading over 300 books. Immerse yourself in the masters to provide the “irrigation” your mind needs for original thought.
* Cultivate Mental Clarity: Writing requires a “sound mind in a sound body.” Practice Yoga and Pranayama to clear mental fog. When your breath is steady, the “Luminous Thread” of creativity flows more naturally.
* Think, Plan, Own, Act: Apply this strategic framework to your work. Deeply think of your message, plan your structure, own your unique voice (don’t let algorithms dictate your style), and act by writing daily.
* Seek Real-World Inspiration: Don’t write in a vacuum. Observe the innocence of children or the wisdom of elders. Authentic writing is forged from life experience, not just second-hand data.
* Aim for Brilliance: Don’t settle for clichés. Strive for the intellectual brilliance of the legends. Research deeply and challenge yourself to provide a primary source of wisdom for your readers.
Your “second inning as writer/poet” starts the moment you reclaim your curiosity. Write with the selfless intent to serve, and the world will listen.

  1. An inspiring interview that beautifully captures the journey of an Industry Yogi—someone who transformed years of professional experience into deep study, reflection, and the creation of numerous meaningful books. The author’s evolution from hands-on work to thoughtful scholarship shows how dedication and inner discipline can turn experience into wisdom. It is motivating to see how continuous learning and purposeful writing can leave a lasting impact on both industry professionals and readers seeking practical knowledge.
My take away is to have disciplined life, consistency, perseverance and zeal to evolve at any stage of life.
