LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Neha A: Wings of Change is a fantasy novel about transformation, identity, and courage. It follows Nadia, whose ordinary life slowly unravels when she discovers she is connected to a world she never knew existed. I wrote this book during a phase of deep personal change, mostly in quiet hours, early mornings and late nights. The story grew alongside me, and in many ways, it kept me going.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Neha A: The title came naturally. ‘Wings’ represent growth and freedom, and ‘Change’ reflects the inner shifts we go through before we become who we’re meant to be. It mirrors both the story and my own journey.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Neha A: I was in a phase when life had paused for me. As absurd as it sounds, I once looked up at the sky and began writing about the clouds. In that quiet moment, I felt deeply connected to words. I started with poems, and slowly, they grew into stories. That’s when I realised writing wasn’t just something I enjoyed, it had become the way I made sense of life. It felt less like a choice and more like something I couldn’t ignore.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Neha A: I want to create worlds and characters that showcase both the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of us, stories that readers can relate to, feel motivated by, and connect with. I see myself writing stories that reach more people, whether through books, conversations, or possibly screen adaptations, and that stay with readers even after they’re done reading.
LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?
Neha A: Both matter. Quality makes readers stay; marketing helps them find the book in the first place. One can’t really work without the other.
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Neha A: That it’s okay to be vulnerable, to change, and to begin again. Growth is rarely easy, but it’s always meaningful.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Neha A: I work as an English educator and curriculum designer. Teaching and writing constantly influence each other for me.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Neha A: I step away. I walk, listen to music, or simply sit with the story instead of forcing it. The words usually return when I give them space.
What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?
Neha A: Wow, that’s a thoughtful one!
If my story were adapted into a film or series, I’d love to work with creators like the Duffer Brothers, who know how to handle intricate, layered worlds while keeping the story engaging and entertaining. In terms of casting, actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Zendaya stand out to me for their ability to portray complex characters with depth and authenticity.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
Neha A: Yes, I’m currently working on the next part of Wings of Change. The story expands into a richer world with many new, intricate yet engaging characters. There is more magic, more conflict, and greater emotional depth. The challenges become tougher, and the stakes rise significantly. It’s a natural progression of the journey that began in the first book.
LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?
Neha A: Pay attention to the world around you and write truthfully from your own experiences. Don’t rush success or compare your journey with others. What matters most is showing up consistently, even on days when writing feels difficult.
