About Aadya Munshi
Hi I am Aadya Munshi, I am a creative 10-year-old student currently studying in Class 5. I have a curious mind, and a deep love for animals, especially pets who find new homes and families through adoption. This book is my special way of saying thank you to all the kind people who open their hearts to shelter and care for animals in need.
Also, I am passionate about art, painting, doodling, and creating colourful illustrations. I enjoy playing the guitar, listening to Bengali music, and exploring the many delicious flavours of Indian food, especially Bengali cuisine. My love for storytelling grew from the time I spent with my father, who always encouraged me to imagine, create, and dream.
Through these stories, I hope to bring smiles to children everywhere and spread a message of kindness, love, and care for animals. I believe that even small stories can make a big difference in the world.
This is my first book, written and illustrated with joy, hope, and a whole lot of heart.
LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Aadya Munshi: It took me almost one year and two months to write and illustrate this book. The journey has been wonderful, and I learned so many new things through the process of creating my very first book.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Aadya Munshi: This book is all about an adopted kitten who had an accident and was rescued by a family.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Aadya Munshi: I was inspired to write my book when my father published his first Hindi book, Chhupan Chhupai. His collection of nostalgic childhood stories—rooted in friendship and the everyday lives of children from modest backgrounds—motivated me to create something meaningful of my own. Sudha Murthy ji is also a part of my inspirations.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Aadya Munshi: I dream of writing more books that honour animals, nature, and all the blessings God has given us — almost like a heartfelt thank-you to the world we live in. I would also love to grow Snowy’s story into a full series as she evolves into a big cat, inspired by how Sudha Ma’am nurtures her characters in the Gopi Diaries.
LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?
Aadya Munshi: I think marketing and the quality of a book are both really important. If a book is good, with a nice story and pictures, then children will enjoy reading it and tell their friends too. But marketing also helps because it lets more people know that the book exists. When people see it in shops, online, or on posters, they get curious and want to read it. So I feel both are needed—good stories make readers happy, and good marketing helps more readers find the book!
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Aadya Munshi: First of all, I’m not a big writer yet—I’m still learning from others every day. But if you ask me what I feel, I would simply say that everything created by God is precious, and we should love, respect, and care for all of it.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Aadya Munshi: I study, play with my dolls, and I’m also learning Zumba, guitar, and classical music.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Aadya Munshi: When I get writer’s block, I don’t force myself to write. I usually take a break and do things I love, like playing with my dolls, drawing, dancing, or practising guitar. Sometimes I listen to music or talk to my parents. These fun things help my mind feel fresh again, and then new ideas start coming on their own!
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
Aadya Munshi: Yes, the next phase of Snowy’s story will show her growing from a kitten into a teenager.
LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?
Aadya Munshi: I would like to develop my writing skills further, so that later I can offer meaningful suggestions to budding writers.
