LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.

Dr. Murari Kaimal: The idea was seeded by numerous incidents during my air travels that made me ask: “What if the worst nightmare comes true, and how will we all react if there is a crash?”. Paired with the multiple aircraft incidents recently, piecing together things technically and emotionally led to the birth of a fiction novel, inspired by true events.

LiFT: Why did you choose this title?

LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: I had actually left this book half-written and forgotten for a long time before I started writing again. I would say, writing a novel for my daughter, Aradhya and managing to get it published and well-received, reignited the author in me and made me complete this story inspired by true events.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: An established and celebrated author with some good books under my belt, through which I have managed to communicate with the world out there, and found peace in my endeavour of spilling my thoughts onto paper to be laid out raw for the appreciation and scrutiny of the world.

LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: More than the writing part, getting your book out there and published is a big challenge when you are coming from a medical field and not well-versed or connected with the literary circle and publishing business. I was quite fortunate to find TS publications, led by Sushmit and Tusharika, who had the same ideologies and wavelength; we are like a family now.

LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: More than a message I tend to express and share my experiences through my books. Hence, I tend to keep it as real and authentic as possible.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: I am an Endoscopic skullbase surgeon, and worked extensively globally- UK, EU, Middle East, Central Asia, India. Currently, I am working as a Senior Consultant Endoscopic surgeon and Surgical Advisor for the Emirates of Afghanistan.

LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: I usually write in short stretches, mainly scribbling down ideas or inspirations as they come. And usually tend to compile them together later into a full storyline. It also fits better with my busy Surgical carrier, where it is impossible to find dedicated time for writing an entire novel in one stretch, this style helps me utilise my free times efficiently.

LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: It would be an honour to see my work on the Silverscreen. More important than Who, i feel it must be a team who can relate with the story and empathize with the characters in it. Also keeping the essesnce of the book alive when transferring onto the screen.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: My next title is- Hanuman The Immortal Guardian- a Mythologic fantasy thriller, conceiving Lord Hanuman, the Immortal as living among us in the 21st century and guiding us with the wisdom of aeons of seeing life on this earth. The book tries to bring out the Mental strength and resolve of Lord Hanuman rather than the normally portrayed Physical strength. It emphasises the relevance of old world virtues and values in today’s modern world.

LiFT: What are your suggestions for budding writers and poets to help them improve their writing skills?

Dr. Murari Kaimal: There is no one size fits all rule applicable in writing. Best is to let your creativity flow and finding the best circumstances to aid the same. I have always felt casual conversations are a powerful trigger for new ideas and thoughts, and helps framing the characters and scenarios much better. So also your own life experiences and trying to keep it as raw and true to yourself as possible.
