LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it, and its content.
Yashnashree H: This book, ‘Savanna’, is about a young girl whose life takes a variety of changes, and she is unsure how to deal with them. She understands where to stand if she has a friend or two- perhaps even a long-lost sister! She looks around for a thing or two as she stumbles through a strange trip, which leads her to one goal: to find her family. She describes herself as many hurdles result in magic. She is familiar with the path and may have further knowledge. There is some suspicion surrounding her. Driven by my passion for fiction and adventure, I channeled my creativity into this book.
LiFT: Why did you choose this title?
Yashnashree H: Savanna is a young girl featured in this book, which is why I chose her name for the title.
LiFT: When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer, and what was your inspiration behind it?
Yashnashree H: From the time I was just six months old, my mother instilled a love for reading in me by sharing countless stories. By the age of four, I was inspired to pick up books myself, and they quickly became my closest companions. This passion for reading sparked my desire to write, and by six, I was crafting my own tales with my mom’s encouragement. I published my first book at nine, and ever since, J.K. Rowling has been my favorite author, motivating me to continue writing and explore new stories.
LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?
Yashnashree H: I see myself as a well-known author and helping young writers to motivate them in their writing journey.
LiFT: How important do you think marketing and the quality of a book are in promoting it and increasing its readership?
Yashnashree H: The quality of a book is vital for its promotion, as it directly influences reader satisfaction and enhances the author’s reputation. Effective marketing is essential, as it captures the audience’s interest, establishes a brand identity, and boosts sales.
LiFT: What message do you want to convey to people through your writing?
Yashnashree H: Basically, inspire and motivate others.
LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?
Yashnashree H: I build Legos, write stories/poems, play badminton, read many books, pencil sketch, and paint.
LiFT: What activities do you resort to when you face writer’s block?
Yashnashree H: I usually take a break for a day or two, and sometimes, I step out to my garden for some fresh air. I find it easier to return to my writing with a clearer mind.
LiFT: What if your story were to be adapted into a movie? Who would you want to work as the director or actors in it?
Yashnashree H: JK Rowling as a director or actor.
LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If so, could you tell us something about it?
