About Nabaghan Ojha:

Nabaghan Ojha is a visionary thinker, acclaimed researcher in development works, and an author. He is a deeply curious thought leader and committed to development of science and tradition to engage the general public and individuals of all ages. He is the founder of “Paradise of Change”, an institution that works on societal development for intelligent life. He has more than 20 years of experience working on social issues in India, and abroad and his works across multiple disciplines broadly address narratives of human experience. He is an avid reader of philosophy, mythology, and scriptures. Nabaghan Ojha, for years, dreamed of writing life-changing books to empower readers and create leaders for society. ‘A Conversation With Time’- is a dream come true.

He went to the University of Delhi and also received the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship for his Master’s at Bangor University, UK. Presently he lives in Bhubaneswar with his family.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.

Nabaghan: Well. It is very clear that my book carries a loud and big message which is transformation and empowerment. This is not the only book of this genre but when it comes to readers’ engagement with its theme, the book “A Conversation With Time” stands tall. No doubt over it. The book is about two protagonists- Nishit and Yogeshwar. Life moves on smoothly for Nishit, a young handsome guy who lives in Delhi. Suddenly some ridiculous questions strike his mind. The man who never knew the feeling of misery gets drowned in the ocean of confusions and dilemmas. One fine morning, Nishit meets Yogeshwar who touched his soul in the first meet with his magnanimous personality. Life takes a U-turn after that. Yogeshwar showers Nishit with gems of knowledge. Nishit moves to his life version 2.0, becomes a leader and starts living in the new age which all of us have been expecting for years. The twist comes at the end when the mystery of the two mysterious characters is unfolded. When the readers reach the end of the story, the climax will certainly push them to think of real transformation.

Writing a book is not a big deal but what is really big is how your writings touch the readers heart and make them feel the difference. My 20 years’ experience in the societal issues are beautifully penned in this book. Lot of research was made to blend the tradition with modern science and placing them in the appropriate way to the readers with fantastic examples. So I am sure the book will bring a revolutionary change in the mind-set of the readers.

LiFT: Why you chose this title?

Nabaghan: The most difficult task is to choose the perfect title for the book. I started with a title which could not convince me at all. I changed more than 10 titles to reach the perfect one. When I finished the manuscript and read it again I realised that a unique title is needed for such a beautiful book. The characters, the theme and climax of the book insisted me to think something unique on TIME. As this book is an effort to awaken the young generations to make our planet a beautiful place to live for all living beings of now and the generations to come then I thought the title ” A Conversation With Time” is the best and unique. In the entire book you could feel someone actually speaks to Time.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Nabaghan: I am a good writer but I never dared to write books. For years I had been dreaming to write inspiring books but it was only possible in 2021 when I got the real courage and inspiration. One powerful thought is enough to make your dream come true. It was May 2021 when someone very close to me impregnated that powerful thought in my mind. Since then I decided to come out with a book. Then I started ideating a big story.

I have seen many ups and downs in life in the last 20 years and from each situation I have gathered the best learning. I have seen hard pain and real happiness and both the cases made me a stable person. The learning and the stability actually helped me in ideating such a big story which is penned in this book. I sincerely thank the person who really inspired me for this outstanding achievement in my life.

LiFT: Where do you see yourself ten years down the line in the world of literature?

Nabaghan: I am an optimist and a dreamer. I will keep on writing books which could actually force the readers to think big for the society and the planet. Ten years down the line I would see myself as an author of exemplary books based on scientific theory. I would also like to see myself as a mentor for the young generations who would be making examples for the society.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Nabaghan: Marketing and promoting a book is highly necessary unless you are backed by a big publishing house. For the first time authors I would say it is a must and especially those who self-publish their books. The amount of effort you put in writing a book, the same effort or even more is needed to make the book reach with the readers. It is good to engage some marketing agencies to promote your book but it is the author to work hard to promote the book. At the same time, I must say that the quality of the book should be non-negotiable. If the book maintains its quality, it will definitely hit the market and it will be visible to the right readers.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Nabaghan: All my writings whether they are blogs or this particular book speak about empowerment and transformation because the time in which we are living at present is really a transitional time. There might be setbacks, miseries but I would suggest not to quit or underestimate your inner self. This time shall pass. Wise persons never quit or run away. Remember that the beauty of life starts just before you quit. It is very easy to quit but it needs real courage to try again and again. The mind expands when you will remain in the situation, face it and try it again and again. You may fail several times but never quit. Real transformation requires you to step into new environments, meet new people, and do things that you’re not used to. This may make you scary and bring fear in you. But when you start to feel fear, re-frame it and tell yourself that you’re highly excited. Embrace the feeling and don’t let it stop you. Remember that anything which is not extraordinary is just waste of time. Be a leader in your work and perform at the highest level. Leave a legacy for the generations to come.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Nabaghan: I am actually a development professional works for global issues like climate change, global warming etc. I work for Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) of UK Government, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other consulting agencies. Besides, I have floated an institution which works for intelligent life. Of late I have found me as a singer. So sometimes I sing old Kishore Kumar songs. And rest of the time I am engaged with my son and understand people around me.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Nabaghan: This is really an important question and every writer must be facing such problems. When I face it, I just take a break and side-line me completely. I intentionally create some situations where I get severely hurt or get real joy. But in both the cases I do learn and that learning again energize me to resume my writing.

LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?

Nabaghan: Although my book “A Conversation With Time” is not a novel but it could be one of the best movie to empower the young mass. If adopted as a movie, it could actually unearth the hidden talents of individuals. In such case I would suggest the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan to play the role of Yogeshwar and Sidharth Malhotra, the stylish young man as Nishit.

LiFT: Are you working on your next book? If yes, please tell us something about it.

Nabaghan: Yes. After getting an overwhelming response on my first book, I am preparing for the next which are actually higher versions and decorated with science and philosophy. The next books will speak on societal transformation, the big questions, the future and the space. The books that I am ideating at the moment not only impress the readers but also be used for movies and documentaries. That will bring more visible impacts of the power of pen and words.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers/poets so that they could improve their writing skills?

Nabaghan: My suggestion would be to make the idea very clear and loud before you start writing any book. Never start if you have single doubt in mind. Ask yourself why are you writing, who would be your readers and what message you wish to leave for them. If you are clear on these questions, nothing can stop you in writing a good book. Please also remember that our next generations will live in this society and whatever legacy we leave, will be the guiding principle for them. If we want them to live in a better society, let’s make it for them.

Let’s explore the real power of pen and words.
