In Conversation With Madhan Kumar Rajagopal

About Madhan Kumar Rajagopal:

Madhan Kumar Rajagopal is a Chennai based boy who is running a trading business. He has completed his computer science engineering and masters in business administration. The inspiration to write his first book was the desire to share the thoughts and experience through pages and THOUGHT MATTERS is his debut book.

LiFT: Tell us about your book, the journey of writing it and its content.

Madhan: Book Title- THOUGHT MATTERS

Thought Matters is a book to tell you that being self-successful matters more than just being successful in life. It is a reminder to start living the dreams or to find a way to make them come true. It has many inspirational and motivational quotes. The journey was started by writing quotes and the book took its shape.

LiFT: When did you realize that you want to be a writer and what’s your inspiration behind it?

Madhan: I used to write small poems during my childhood days. A few years ago, I developed an interest in reading motivational books. It was then I started writing my own quotes. I used to write and post on social media, then a few of my friends and cousins asked me to elaborate those quotes and form a book. That’s how my debit book, Thought Matters was born.

LiFT: What do think about the literary world and what are your expectations from it?

Madhan: This is a digital era, science and technology are running this world. The literary world is a major platform to tell us about the world. Even though we have started using phone, laptops, and tablets we still feel the need to have a hardcopy of books we like the most with us. That’s the power of a word.

LiFT: How much do you think marketing or quality of a book is necessary to promote a particular book and increase its readers?

Madhan: A book has to be marketed in all possible ways. Strong digital marketing is the need and lots of reviews need to be given to make sure the book gets good reach. Size of the book doesn’t matter but its content is more important. It should be unique and with regards to quality, there should not be any compromise. The cover page and paper quality should be of good standard.

LiFT: What is the message you want to spread among folks with your writings?

Madhan:  “When your intention becomes a creation, there comes the history.” Don’t wait for anything to happen, start doing what you want. Love yourself more than anything else because we tend to lose ourselves in the process of living life. At times we lose ourselves, so STAND ALONE and STRONG always. Don’t lose your dignity, pride, name, confidence, and respect.

LiFT: What do you do apart from writing?

Madhan: I’m a businessman from last 8 years. I completed my studies and I came into the business. My most of the time is spent in office dealing with non-ferrous and ferrous metal scraps. I sell automotive and inverter batteries. Apart from that, I like to meet and be with my cousins, family, and friends.

LiFT: What are the activities you resort to when you face a writer’s block?

Madhan: Usually I write only when an idea strikes me. I write when I’m alone, I get ideas when I’m in my bedroom. Mostly, I get deep thoughts and ideas when I’m sad and depressed. I don’t make a place or a situation to write.

LiFT: What if your story will be adopted as a movie? Whom would you want to work as a director or actors in it?

Madhan: This is the funniest question for me, if ever I become famous, I would definitely think of it. I don’t think about it right now. There is nothing interesting that happened in my life to be taken as a movie.

LiFT: What are your future plans?

Madhan: “For your dreams to become a reality, you should have your feet on the ground.”
I always believe in this quote. Whether I’m winning or losing, I try to attempt first, it gives me happiness and knowledge. Moreover, it doesn’t leave us with regrets that we didn’t even try for it. So my future plans include my business and writing a few more books.

With regards to business, I’ll improve my business areas and its needs. I wish to expand its network and its reach. While if I think about my book, I’ll keep learning new things so that I can write more books in different genres. I’ll try my best to make sure that everyone reads my books and come to know that there is a writer named Madhan Kumar Rajagopal.

LiFT: What are your suggestions to the budding writers so that they could improve their writing skills?

Madhan: Whenever an idea strikes your mind, write it down and keep reading it again and again. It will bring more ideas in your head. Do this process regularly, your book will be ready for sale. When people asked me how I wrote this book, this was the process that I followed. I didn’t sit for writing a book, I just wrote bits and pieces of my thoughts and finally elaborated that into a book.

First write something to convince yourself, which means gaining self-confidence that you can write a book. Don’t ask suggestions at an early stage. Once your first draft is ready then give it for proofreading, because at the early stage people will try to mock you down and you will lose your confidence. So give your book for proofreading only after you have satisfied yourself that you cannot write better than this.
